Asklepios Hamburg Cluster

The comprehensive range of services provided at the Asklepios Kliniken in Hamburg is among the reasons why the Free and Hanseatic City is considered the pre-eminent healthcare hub in Germany. Together they look after roughly half the patients from Hamburg and many more besides from other areas of north Germany. They also have numerous centres and specialists that are often consulted by international patients with particular conditions. Altogether, the seven acute clinics and one rehab clinic in the urban region of Hamburg make up Europe's largest private clinic cluster. Asklepios took over the municipal hospitals in the city of Hamburg in 2004. Privatisation opened the door to sustained investments in the clinics. For instance, over one billion euros were injected into the Hamburg cluster during the first ten years. The Asklepios corporate headquarters have been situated in Hamburg since 2005.
