About the Asklepios Clinic Hohwald – Clinic for Orthopaedic and Rheumatic Surgery

Located in the middle of one of the largest forest areas of the Oberlausitz region and close to the Saxon Switzerland National Park, the clinic can easily be reached from the nearby capital city of Dresden. The beautiful building was constructed around the turn of the 20th century in the middle of an extensive forest surrounded by unspoilt nature at a healthy climatic altitude.

The Asklepios Clinic Hohwald, Saxony’s most established clinic in the field of orthopaedic and rheumatic surgery, has been considerably developed over the last few years.

State-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment are assured by our continuous efforts in education, training, development and medical progress. In accordance with the European Foundation for Quality Management, the clinic is assessed regularly.

Our main areas of treatment include:

• total joint replacement of the hip, knee, elbow, shoulder, small finger and hand joints, and the upper ankle joint, particularly with the support of Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery (CAOS) to improve surgical precision
• rheumatic surgery of nearly all affected joints (e.g. synovectomies, arthrodesis, joint replacement, and tendon reconstruction)
• arthroscopic surgery, especially of the knee, shoulder, elbow and upper ankle joint, with special techniques for osteochondral defect repair, rotator cuff repair and other procedures
• extensive experience in the replacement of the anterior and posterior cruciate ligament with autologous patellar or hamstring tendons
• spine surgery with microsurgical removal of intervertebral disc prolapses and spondylodesis of the lumbar and cervical spine
• operative and conservative paediatric orthopaedics
