Sustainability is not just a buzzword for us. As a healthcare group, Asklepios bears responsibility: for our patients, for our teams, and for the environment – today and for future generations.
Every day, we work to combine top-quality medical care with the conscious use of resources, to strengthen our employees in the long term in a healthy environment, and to provide the best possible care for our patients. Our approach combines climate-friendly infrastructure, sustainable procurement, and a culture that promotes innovation, learning, and collaboration.
Since 2018, we have been showing how we live up to this responsibility in our Corporate Social Responsibility Report. In 2024, the report was voluntarily prepared in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards – a step that further highlights our transparency and commitment to a sustainable future.
ESG & Sustainability
Three dimensions – a holistic approach
For Asklepios, sustainability means responsibility towards the environment and society. In the interests of sustainable development in healthcare, we consider the three dimensions of environment, social and governance – ESG for short – as guidelines for our actions.
As part of its materiality analysis, Asklepios has identified and evaluated the relevant sustainability issues in order to exploit opportunities, minimize risks, and define specific areas of action. In this way, we align measures and goals with our impact on the environment, society, and governance – from environmental and climate protection to the well-being of our patients and employees to value-oriented, transparent, and sustainable structures in corporate governance.
Environmental responsibility
Asklepios works continuously to conserve resources, optimize energy use, and reduce its climate impact, focusing on solutions that are effective today and sustainable for the future. Every ton of CO₂ saved, waste avoided, and sustainably designed process supports a healthy environment for patients and employees.
To limit global warming, Asklepios is implementing effective climate protection measures. As part of its transition plan and expanded greenhouse gas accounting, key levers for decarbonization are being identified to reduce CO₂ emissions.
At the same time, Asklepios is preparing for climate change impacts by improving energy efficiency, particularly in response to growing digitalization. Resource-saving waste management, including separation, recycling, and reusable systems, remains a central environmental focus.

To enhance employee well-being, we continuously develop targeted measures, including comprehensive occupational safety, prevention programs for exercise, nutrition, and stress management, as well as a wide range of training and development opportunities. These initiatives strengthen our teams over the long term and help employees reach their full potential.
Governance
For us, responsible corporate governance is based on clear guidelines, transparent decisions, and a reliable framework rooted in Asklepios’ core values. Integrity, reliability, and compliance guide our daily actions and form the foundation of our governance.
Sustainability is firmly anchored in Asklepios’ corporate governance and continuously developed. Structural measures such as the ESG staff unit, an expanded ESG working group, and interdisciplinary collaboration support this approach. Through transparent, CSRD-compliant reporting, active stakeholder dialogue, and clearly defined goals, measures, and KPIs, we ensure traceable progress and build long-term trust.

Asklepios prepares its CSRD report in accordance with the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (EU) 2022/2464, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and the associated European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
