Every day, we strive to combine top-tier medical care with the conscious use of resources, to empower our employees in the long term within a healthy work environment, and to provide the best possible care for our patients. Our approach encompasses the ongoing development of energy management and climate protection measures, as well as the promotion of innovation, learning, and collaboration.
Since 2018, we have demonstrated how we put this responsibility into practice through our Corporate Social Responsibility Report. Our reporting aligns with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), ensuring transparency regarding our sustainability activities and their continued development.
ESG & Sustainability
Three dimensions – a holistic approach
For Asklepios, sustainability means responsibility towards the environment and society. In the interests of sustainable development in healthcare, we consider the three dimensions of environment, social and governance – ESG for short – as guidelines for our actions.
As part of its materiality analysis, Asklepios has identified and evaluated the relevant sustainability issues in order to exploit opportunities, minimize risks, and define specific areas of action. In this way, we align measures and goals with our impact on the environment, society, and governance. This includes measures for environmental and climate protection, for the well-being of our patients and employees, and for value-oriented, transparent structures in corporate governance.
Environmental responsibility
Asklepios works continuously to use resources efficiently, optimize energy consumption, and reduce its environmental and climate impact. To this end, we implement targeted measures in the areas of energy management, climate protection, and waste management, while focusing a responsible use of energy and resources.
Asklepios recognizes the need to implement effective climate protection measures to limit global warming. As part of developing a climate transition plan and expanding and deepening its greenhouse gas accounting, Asklepios is identifying key levers for reducing CO₂ emissions.
In addition, Asklepios is preparing for the consequences of climate change and focusing on measures for efficient energy use – particularly in light of the rising energy demand driven by advancing digitalization. Resource-conserving waste management, with a focus on waste separation, recycling, and reusable systems, is among our key environmental initiatives.
Energy Management
In March 2026, Asklepios Kliniken GmbH & Co. KGaA and 21 affiliated companies were successfully certified for the implementation and application of an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001:2018. By implementing this internationally recognized standard, Asklepios has established a systematic approach to monitoring and continuously improving energy efficiency.

To enhance employee well-being, we continuously develop targeted measures, including comprehensive occupational safety, prevention programs for exercise, nutrition, and stress management, as well as a wide range of training and development opportunities. These initiatives strengthen our teams over the long term and help employees reach their full potential.
Governance
For us, responsible corporate governance means clear guidelines, transparent and comprehensible decisions, and a reliable framework firmly rooted in Asklepios’ core values. Reliability and integrity shape our daily actions. Compliance and responsible conduct form the foundation of our corporate governance.
Asklepios embeds sustainability into its corporate governance and continuously develops the associated structures. These include the ESG staff unit, the ESG working group, and close interdisciplinary collaboration. Transparent sustainability reporting, dialogue with our stakeholders, and the ongoing development of goals, measures, and key performance indicators foster transparency and strengthen trust.
CSRD Sustainability Statement
Asklepios prepares its CSRD report in accordance with the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (EU) 2022/2464, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and the associated European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
