The CEOs, Joachim Gemmel and Marco Walker, are responsible for the holding company (Asklepios Kliniken GmbH & Co. KGaA).

Hafid Rifi is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Asklepios Kliniken GmbH & Co. KGaA and also Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, while PD Dr. med. Sheikhzadeh is the Chief Medical Officer. Joachim Gemmel speaks on behalf of Asklepios Kliniken Hamburg (AKHH).

Joachim Gemmel studied economics and organizational sciences at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and has been working in the hospital sector since 2003. Before joining Asklepios, he was a member of the executive board responsible for clinic management at DAMP Holding AG and managing director at Hanse-Klinikum Wismar and Stralsund.

Since July 2012, Joachim Gemmel has been Managing Director of Asklepios Klinik Nord, the largest hospital in the Asklepios Group, with locations in Heidberg, Ochsenzoll and Wandsbek in Hamburg.

Since July 2016, he has been a member of the management board of Asklepios Kliniken Hamburg GmbH.

In January 2019, he was appointed to the board of Asklepios Kliniken GmbH & Co. KGaA, where he was initially responsible for Asklepios Kliniken Hamburg GmbH. He has been CEO since February 12, 2024

Marco Walker has been a member of the Executive Board of Asklepios Kliniken GmbH since July 1, 2016. As Chief Operating Officer (COO), Marco Walker was initially responsible for the group's clinics in the central and southern regions, which include around 30 facilities in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Saarland. He was also responsible for rehabilitation and digitalization. Walker has been CEO since February 12, 2024. He also serves as a member of the supervisory boards of the University Hospital Marburg and Giessen (UKGM), RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG, Meierhofer AG, and MEDICLIN AG.

Born in Stuttgart, Marco Walker began his professional career in 2002 as a trainee at Asklepios after completing his studies in economics at the University of Mannheim. He then held various successful positions within the group. Among other things, he was assistant to the group management, administrative manager at the Donauklinik (Neu Ulm/Illertissen) and at the Asklepios Klinik Bad Tölz.

He then headed the Asklepios Westklinikum Hamburg for more than five years before becoming managing director of the Asklepios Klinikum Harburg in March 2013, a position he held until his appointment to the Executive Board.

Hafid Rifi was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and member of the Executive Board of Asklepios Kliniken GmbH on March 1, 2016. Since September 1, 2009, Hafid Rifi has been Group Division Manager for Accounting, Taxation & Controlling at Asklepios and, since December 2015, Managing Director of Asklepios Kliniken Hamburg GmbH. Hafid Rifi holds a degree in economics and is a certified tax advisor and auditor.

Before joining Asklepios, Hafid Rifi spent eleven years as an auditor, advising and auditing listed companies in the healthcare sector, as well as municipal hospital chains and university hospitals.

PD Dr. med. Sheikhzadeh has been a member of the Executive Board of Asklepios Clinics since July 1, 2022. 

Born in Tehran and raised in Germany, she studied human medicine at the Medical University of Lübeck. After completing her studies and her practical year in Lübeck and Basel, she began her career in 2003 at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). Initially working as a physician at the UKE's Heart Center, she took on more and more responsibility in the following years. She was senior physician at the central emergency room and accompanied various projects in process management at the University Medical Center when she moved to Asklepios Clinics Hamburg in 2015.

At the Asklepios Clinic Harburg, a large maximum care provider in the city, she initially started as senior physician and, after a short time, became chief physician of the central emergency room in 2016.

At the end of 2019, she additionally took on the dual role of head of the central emergency room at another large maximum care provider, the Asklepios Clinic St. Georg in the city center. She gave up this dual role in March 2022 in favor of additional responsibilities for Hamburg's emergency rooms and the Asklepios Clinics Hamburg.

PD Dr. Sheikhzadeh has contributed to numerous scientific publications focusing on cardiology and has habilitated on genetic aortic syndrome.
