Welcome

The orthopaedic department in Birkenwerder has a long tradition. It was a former centre of paediatric orthopaedic treatment and all kinds of deformities. In the middle of the seventies it changed more to centre of conservative and operative treatments for adults. The Asklepios Clinic Birkenwerder has now an experience of more than 30 years in joint replacement and spine surgery. We are specialized in minimal invasive surgery. The hospital is one of leading hospital in Germany and out of Germany for arthroscopic surgery and reconstructive surgery of all joints.

In addition to orthopaedic surgery we developed also the emergency and trauma care. The hospital has tree floors with the section of spine surgery, joint replacement, arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery as well as general orthopaedics including septic surgery. In conjunction with the department of internal medicine and the department vascular surgery we also take care about surgical problems in patients with diabetic foot syndrome.

Each year are performed approximately 2400 operations. A complete postoperative service are provided with a high tech postoperative intensive and intermediate care. For surgery with low risk we transfer more and more surgery to same day procedures.
